PA 144 transducer

Simple compact sensor/transducer of electrical quantities with embeded electricity meter for submetering and automation

PA 144 is a transducer designed for remote monitoring of power consumption and other actual parameters of electrical energy - energy management, submetering or smart metering applications. The DIN rail display-less enclosure with multiple communication options suits a wide spectrum of automation tasks - industrial automation processes, modern building management systems, machine supervison, load management etc.

Its input, output and communication interface portfolio can be easily extended with additional IO extension modules for extra control capability. Currently a 10 MBit Ethernet, USB, M-Bus and wireless(ZigBee, WiFi) extension is available.

This instrument is an ideal cost-optimized source of data for SCADA systems with support for Modbus protocol. It is also supported in  the ENVIS application. PA 144 offers a broad selection of communication ports as well as input and output options. Additional expansion modules can further extend its features. In complex systems the instrument can be well supplemented by other instruments like SMC 144, SMC 118 and SMD 118.

PA 144 is a simple sensor-like instrument: it does measure actual values such as energy counters (meter), frequency, voltages, currents, powers and its factors, harmonics etc. It serves these data into the master system over a range of communication lines. It is suitable for budgetary applications or a last mile meter. It is also a perfect peripheral for many PLC controlled systems and for industrial automation. Its optional programmable outputs can be driven by conditions based on actually measured values. A simple hardware upgrade path exists to SMC 144 analyser with datalogger function.

Wiring example: Currents of 5A up to 600A are measured directly with clamp-on or wire-through probes, this special approach significantly reduces the total cost of installation.

It also downloads and archives data from all the supported instruments. import/export, data analysis and advanced reporting of the records is also provided. Voltage and power event cycle data logger module.
  • Ripple Control (Mains) Signals - RCS Module: for measurement, recording and analysis of a ripple control signal. Several formats of the telegram are also supported for decoding.
  • Voltage Events - VE Module: for recording and evaluation of voltage events (SMVQ & SMPQ does include this feature in its default configuration).
  • General Oscillograms - GO module: for detection and precise recording of various waveform distortions. This module records the so called oscillograms of voltages and currents in extended detail, capacity and trigger options into the flash memory.
  • Modbus Master - MM module: in supported instruments with memory it activates new option to record Modbus data from connected slave devices. It can work as a datalogger to NOVAR PFCs as well as to local sub-meters or other Modbus sensors.
